Threw together a quick closer look at the Thaitsuki Sukueto Hondachi. I should have really polished and cleaned up the blade in my dusty room before filming...so excuse the dust particles and oil.
I didnt give my impressions in the video really. No voice over. Just a slow meandering look at the sword in close detail. As for handling the sword feels good. Its not a 'daily' cutter or something i would use often. Though it feels nice. I think the sword is nice and sharp looking. No pun intended.
The fittings are all tight. The tsuka ito is nice and tight as well. Nothing is loose. The blade is nice. I'm not sure why they did the quarter bohi. I like the look of it..but as for the blade balance its not heavy and without the bohi might have been a little more solid feel to it. Though i like how it looks. It breaks up the blade visually. The sword is about 1,000 USD.
I'd say that if you are looking for a 'cutter' this is not the sword to buy. But for a nice sword thats well put together i think this is a quality piece. One bad thing to note is they must have wrapped the sageo on the saya too soon after lacquer curing because there is some slight imprints on the lacquer from the sageo.
I'm not sure if i can buff those out or not. I'm NOT an expert on reviewing swords. I'm just giving my impressions. I do however train with them so as far as feeling this sword feels good...my only complaint about using it is that the saya is a little beefier than other swords i've used so it just takes getting used to. Otherwise all ok.
